If you ignore the fact that Rosalina's Mom died of natural causes instead of space pirates and that Samus was the adoptee instead of the adopter then yeah, they're a little similar.

Asides from the fact that one's some kind of space god and the other is an unstoppable force hell bent on taking down an immortal space dragon.
