Had Bethesda released the Creation Club last year in place of the Steam Green Light shit show I think people would have supported it. The community is too galvanized from mod theft, low effort content, and how the whole drama fractured the mod community to even consider any form of paid mod content.

Personally I think the Creation Club’s curation of content, beta testing, official support, and giving modder’s a cut is fantastic. But the fact it took an enormous amount of backlash to make it happen leaves a bad impression.

I get why a lot of people are on guard about this, especially when you consider Bethesda’s track record of releasing half finished and broken games. It doesn’t give them a lot of incentive to create new content, let alone fix their game.

Honestly they should have waited to release this system for their next game and only after they proved that they would actively participate in updating the game instead of leaving it to modders to squash bugs in a game engine that needs to be put to rest.

Also, speaking of broken and ancient things, when is that edit button coming KYM?

Heres what has changed.

BEFORE:
Bethesda releases a horribly buggy open world game. Community makes mods to fix it. Bethesda copy pastes and slaps a logo on it and says its an official patch.

AFTER (now):
Bethesda releases a horribly buggy open world game. Community makes mods to fix it. Bethesda charges you for it and saves money on patching it themselves.
