What's interesting is this isn't even the first time I've seen a creator or a major company do their own AMV style videos. Way back when Disney Channel was a premium network like HBO (it used to brand itself as a family friendly alternative to HBO too) they did a whole series of videos they'd show during commercials that would combine clips from old Disney cartoons with a popular song of the time (one I remember really well is the video they did that used Hall and Oats "Kiss on My List" [which sadly I can't find online mostly due to Warner Music blocking most of the videos that do show up in search results]). Also Cartoon Network made this video combining a song by Soul Coughing with Betty Boop footage:
