One point I'd like to add: The thing about Star and Steven is that Steven is a momma's boy while Star is "Daddy's little girl" (Interestingly enough, they both have mom issues.) Steven idolizes (or did idolize) his mom's pacifistic/idealistic ethos and wants to toe that line. Star, on the other hand, is a free spirit, a rebel and grew up surrounded by and indulging in violence from both parents' lineages.
