About

Star vs. the Forces of Evil is an American cartoon created by Daron Nefcy and produced by Disney Television Animation, which is centered around the adventures of Star Butterfly, a princess from an alternate dimension who has been sent to Earth by her parents after destroying their kingdom with a magic wand. The series began growing a significant fan following online after a special preview of the first episode was broadcast on the Disney Channel.

Premise

The show follows Star Butterfly (voiced by Eden Sher), the princess from the alternate dimension of Mewni who is given a magic wand on her 14th birthday. She couldn't handle its powers, setting the kingdom on fire within a day. In response, Star's parents decided to send their daughter to Earth so she can learn how to use her wand. She arrived in the town of Echo Creek to live with Marco Diaz (voiced by Adam McArthur) and his family while they fight against villains throughout the universe to protect the wand.

History

According to show creator Daron Nefcy, she initially began planning for the series when she was a fourth-grade student. The first designs of Star were created during her college years. At first, the series was about a girl who thought she had magic powers, but this was altered for the final version.[6][12] The series was announced at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, and the first episode was premiered on January 18th, 2015 as a special preview. On February 23rd, 2015, another episode was released on WATCHDisneyXD.com. The series official premiered on March 30th, 2015 on DisneyXD.
