This is what a call the Bumblebee effect, when there is a ship that has very little basis in canon becomes popular due to the fact that two characters haven't had a possible romantic interest yet introduced. Then when said possible interest is finally introduced to at least one of the characters, the previous ship has such a tight hold on the fandom already that there is very little fanart of the new one.

Because I named it after the ship in RWBY which is currently the most popular ship in the fandom despite there being very little basis on canon
