Sometimes All a Person Needs Is One Missing Piece is an object-labeling image macro meme of a person made of interlocking puzzle pieces, with one space left empty. That final piece is in the hands of the characters. Online, people label that piece with various absurd or humorous things.
Origin
On June 3rd, 2018, Facebook [1] user Alexis Burelo posted the image, with the caption "La pieza más important queue faltaba en mi visa…." The meme labels the piece "Dios," indicating that all that is missing is God. The image is signed "David Blanco." The post received more than 128,000 shares, 14,000 reactions and 395 comments in less than three years (shown below).
Spread
Over the next two years, people continued to share variations of the meme. On December 12th, 2019, Twitter[2] user @Uzumaki_Dice shared a variation of the meme, with the piece labeled "Despertar mi sharingan." The tweet received more than 590 likes and 200 retweets in less than two years (shown below, left).
On March 17th, 2020, Tumblr [3] user dankmemeuniversity shared a variation of the meme from the Instagram [4] account @gbmemes in which the piece is labeled "garlic bread". The post received more than 22,000 notes in less than one year (shown below, center). That week, Twitter[5] user @ordurebizarree posted a variation that received more than 10,000 likes and 3,200 retweets.
About six months later, Redditor CyberWayet posted a variation, in which the piece is labeled "$500 mil," in the /r/memes[6] subreddit. The post received more than 57,000 points (98% upvoted) and 190 comments in less than one month (shown below, right).
