Now I wonder if Glossaryck acting off was a case of "Real Life Writing the Plot"

Let's be honest, the council need some kind of karmic punishment for what they'd done to Eclipsa and her family. Thing is, we don't know why Eclipsa left Meteora with a man who wouldn't love her. All we know is that she and Globgore lived happily together and, presumably, didn't bother the kingdom. My guess is the two of them being crystalled was the council's way of covering of the big conspiracy.
