Centrists, by virtue of not being The Enemy, are able to talk to less extreme persons, and thus shift them away from insanity the true faith, while not even having the decency of taking an opposing extreme position to rally against. This tends to cause extreme hatred. I'd say more hatred than the opposing extremists get.
