I tell everyone the same thing.

If you're pissed off with Windows 10, and would like to try alternative operating systems, and can't bring yourself to buy a Mac, don't immediately toss aside the idea of Linux.

Modern Linux is very user friendly, and for basic computer tasks like watching movies, web browsing, Facebook, emails, managing files, light editing of pictures, typing up documents, etc, it's in my opinion actually more user friendly than Windows 7 at this point.

The days of driver compatibility issues and endless technical problems are long gone. Nearly every application you can think of either has a native Linux port, or there is a great Linux alternative available for it.

The main issues with Linux right now is just gaming compatibility, but the number of Linux compatible games on Steam is just skyrocketing lately (especially with a new feature on Steam released like 2 weeks ago that allows for running Windows games on Linux, it's still buggy but give it time!).

If you're curious, and you got a spare laptop maybe you mostly use for web browsing, pop Linux Mint with the 'Cinnamon' shell onto it, and give it a try for a while, it's really quite nice. Linux Mint with Cinnamon is where all the Windows refugees have been heading, it's pretty similar to Windows 7 in user experience.
