Seriously though, I can never figure out what to think about the arguments of both sides. One discourages women from enjoying life, basically. The other tells them to disregard possibly endangering factors.
Obviously the rapist is the cause of the crime. So is the burglar, though. But there's no one denying that you should lock your doors, close your windows, avoid bragging about your valuables, etc. in order to protect your property. The mere existence of crime limits our freedoms and that's something we have to live with. Complaining how sexist, racist and unfair in general it is doesn't change that.
