One of the OG waifu animes before that word was even coined, and with pretty interesting characters and plot to boot, thus making it a top pick.

And as if that was not enough, it has quite a set of opening songs as well (which are quite a pain in the ass to find, given how the anime did not get much love in the English-speaking side of the world, which automatically makes the internet as a whole not care much about it, unfortinately):
