Why removing Shane was a mistake Based on the trailer, the absence of the pilot's Shane throws off the whole dynamic and themes that made the pilot work in the first place. When it was just Reggie and Shane it was a slightly more mature guy playing along with his less mature friend, and the tensions and setup were obvious. Something about growing up would trigger Reggie, Shane would waffle trying to see both sides of things, they'd go to Party Island and fight some embodiment of the problem made by Butt Witch (the symbol of Reggie's puberty), and Reggie would come to terms with one more aspect of growing up and get a lttle closer to the already more mature Shane instead of drifting away. Now she's just got a crew of equally immature droogs and it seems like the point is less growing up is hard but necessary" and more "YEAH F--- GROWING UP"
