Spinel's backstory becomes even more fucked up after Volleyball – the other Diamonds were so concerned about Pink's destructive temper tantrums after what she did with Pink Pearl that they were forced to create an indestructible playmate for her.

That's the reason Spinel can bend and stretch and change shape – so Pink Diamond couldn't permanently damage her! She's a bipedal padded room…

And the bitterly ironic this is that PINK MANAGED TO PERMANENTLY DAMAGE SPINEL ANYWAY.
