to be fair, if you exclude Marth, Roy and their Echoes, he did manage to make every FE character feel distinct, Ike being slower and with heavier attacks, Robin with his magic and weapon durability, Corrin with the Dragon Transformation and now Byleth finally bringing in the other Weapons into the fold.

The problem is that people refuse to look past the surface level similarities. The only reason there's so many FE characters is because Sakurai wanted to bring back every character in Smash history. prior to Ultimate, Melee and Brawl only had 2 and Smash 4 had 5 with 4 of them being very distinct from each other.
