But cognitive dissonance isn't from an imaginary or negligible population, just about everybody is guilty of holding contradictory opinions in some shape or form.
Humans are emotional beings so we can develop an idea about one thing or have our perspective colored in a certain way and still end up with a different opinion on a similar subject matter even if they don't make sense logically.
To be fair, double standards and hypocrisy exists everywhere for almost anything. It's just never to a cartoonish degree or barely ever so blatant. And sometimes not even intentional or malicious in any way, as some people don't even realize they're doing it until it's pointed out.
It just helps not to over-generalize these types of things. Don't lump whole groups just because a few random people are doing it.
