The pyramids are by far the oldest of the ancient great wonders and the last to survive. It's quite amazing if you think about it.

Those pharaohs wanted their monuments to stand for ages, but do you think they'd ever expect them to stand for over 4,000 years? Not only did the pyramids outlast Egypt, they outlasted everyone who conquered Egypt. Even when the Muslim Sultans tried to demolish them, they found that they lacked the sheer manpower and resources to finish the job.

Imagine the pride those ancient people would have felt know what kind of impact they'd leave on the world.

You can mostly chalk that up to the Colossus of Rhodes being a stupid fucking idea in the first place. Building a giant, slender statue in an area prone to earthquakes wasn't too bright.
