In Paper Mario, many enemies have elemental weaknesses, eg. fire-based enemies take extra damage from ice attacks etc. The vast majority of these weaknesses are obvious through the enemy's design, and shared with other similar enemies. However, there is one weakness that is so obscure it took 18 years after the game's release to even attempt to use that attack against that specific enemy to discover it During one event in Chapter 6, green Monty Moles appear. They are fought only then, and disappear forever afterwards. For an unknown reason, (normal enemies would have taken 6 damage in the screenshots). The Hammer Throw badge is designed to be used against flying or ceiling- bound enemies - against ground-bound enemies, it is equivalent to a regular Hammer attack, so almost no players would use it against the Monty Moles, much less event-only ones, much less expect it to have any sort of special effect, leading to this being undiscovered for so long.
