Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog In Paper Mario, a specific type of event-only enemy that is only fought once in the game has a unique weakness to an attack that is not designed to be used against these enemies, so that it took 18 years after the game's release for this effect to be discovered. They are fought only then, and disappear forever afterwards. For an unknown reason, (normal enemies would have taken 6 damage in the screenshots). The Hammer Throw badge is designed to be used against flying or ceiling- bound enemies - against ground-bound enemies, it is equivalent to a regular Hammer attack, so almost no players would use it against the Monty Moles, much less event-only ones, much less expect it to have any sort of special effect, leading to this being undiscovered for so long.
