Because pixel graphics are out, it's now all about vectors.

For good reason, too, because there is now a shitload of variety on screen resolutions, you can no longer design your websites and graphics around a "Standard resolution". You need something that can scale no matter the screen size and/or layout.

We can have resolutions as small as 720p still, but also as gigantic as 8k soon… which is like over 30 times the resolution. If your base graphic is now made around 8k then not only is the filesize kinda huge, the graphic will "skip" pixels on lower res screens to render which looks bad. And if you have a low res then it will look like shit on a high res screen.
