God, I fucking hate that too. Just doing or saying something very simple with no real emotion to it and immediately, "Are you mad? You sound mad?" I wasn't, but I am now, because you're an annoying presumptuous jackass.

More annoying when it's people who know you and really shouldn't be expecting some extroverted response to something by now.

My response to that is pretty much "So? Are you saying that because you want to help, or because you think you deserve an apology? Anything else and it's none of your fucking business."

Usually they think they deserve an apology; but very few will actually admit that out loud, and NONE of them will offer help (unless their help is really inane and shitty in which case they will offer all the bad advice they can.)
