GhostManOnThird · 23h Disabled veteran and avid D&Der here who is pretty anti-wheelchair. It has nothing to do with "disabeld people can't be heroes." Without going into a huge tirade, I'll basically say this: the combat wheelchair is silly to me because it downplays the disability and turns it into a gimmick rather than something that needs to be overcome. I don't feel represented by a magic wheelchair that has zero downsides, and is even outright OP and is better than not being in one. The wheelchair is all about nullifying disabilities and wrapping them in a pretty bow so nobody has to deal with how s----- it is to be disabled. I don't feel represented by that. I do feel represented by characters like Edward from Fullmetal Alchemist who is constantly getting his prosthetics f----- up and he has to overcome that. He has to put in twice the effort to be half as good, and still pulls through. That is real representation to me. Not "Mary Sue" nonsense that literally makes your wheelchair immune to damage and being taken away from you. And as far as suspension of disbelief goes, for some things you can. But if Aragorn pulled out an AK-47, shot Sauron in the face, would you just shrug and go "Well it's a fantasy movie, nothing needs to make sense"? Or would you not feel like Aragorn pulling out a gun was a little. off- color? By all means, float around on a magic disk. Use a magic carpet to get around. But literally riding a wheelchair into battle is. not going to end well for you when the orcs push you over and beat you to death with it. People can play how they want, it makes no difference to me. But again, as a disabled person, I think the wheelchair is insulting when it just nullifies all the point of being "disabled" in the first place and even turns it into a superpower.

It's that poorly thought out, Not even a f------ tradeoff, you just get bonuses and your opponents cant' do any of the SUPER F------ OBVIOUS s--- anyone with a brain would do to disable (heh) a guy in a wheelchair
