I mean, BST (base stats total) of common mons hangs anywhere between 455 and 500, with plenty of overused mons rocking less than 500 but they work because of good spread and a niche to fill.

Between 500 and 600 you get strong stuff, starters always have a BST 530-535 so they're meant and designed to be stronger than the majority. Gyarados will fuck shit up with 540.

Arcanine has a BST 555… and none of its stats really stands out. Meh HP, meh defenses that coupled with meh HP, attack stats are high but nothing to write home about, and worst of all, 95 speed meaning it is slower than a fucking Miltank. And with those stats, he ain't OHKOing anything it can outspeed, probably.

Arcanine is a mix of a-grade ingredients making a meh sandwich that's worth less than the sum of its parts.

So what we add to make this mix hold better together? JUST ADD ROCK! Sure the best offensive type on paper but it won't survive to make use of that STAB Stone Edge.
