I feel like the nonsense these petrol states pull is one of the best arguments in favor of less car-dependent city planning. Renewables are great for being less dependent on countries with garbage governments, with nuclear being a mostly-reliable option for filling the gaps (the Chernobyl incident was due to incompetence & pride, and Fukushima's issues stemmed from Japan being extremely prone to natural disasters because it sits on four tectonic plates within the Ring of Fire and has 10% of all active volcanoes.)

It is Saudi Arabia, it is not. Worst case scenario they just built it for themselves, if they can recoup any cost, hey, seems good.

Nothing, just reminiscing a bit about a video (Electroboom probably) where some sultan pretty much bribed Phillips to provide them with LED lamps that knocked off that planned obsolescence bullshit (and being much economical as a plus for being literally out of a money-not-an-object budget), they would have none of what Phillips would offer or propose. "We want the best, you shall give us the best, and if any of our engineers find out you shortchanged us in any way shape or form by Allah you will feel the wrath of my shoe".
