Sonic the Hedgehog - Family issues

I really don’t get where people are getting that idea from (I’ve seen the sentiment on Twitter that people are surprised Sonic Riders is canon). I get it for the Sonic Boom games, but where’d did people suddenly get this notion that games like Sonic Riders, Team Sonic Racing or heck even the Storybook series aren’t part of the main canon? I’ve always thought that stuff was canon, even when I was a little kid!
