SIESTA Dad works very hard, more than 70 hours a week, but every day between 2-4 PM he comes home for siesta He sleeps like a rock, gets up, drinks an espresso outdoors while watching the birds, then goes back to work It's a show made for gay men and millennial women, but he loves it It reminds him of his days as a yachtie back in the 80s Dad puts organic waste and lawn trimmings into a compost bin BELOW DECK FACEBOOK CLICKBAIT OWN TIMETABLE FOOD CHUCKING Lately he's A family of into obvious Flight Simulator But when he feeds them, he chucks the food overhand, like absolutely belts He feeds his garden with it NIGHTLY TEA ELABORATE DINNER He never sleeps on dinner; it's always an elaborate affair for him involving at least three courses and usually five He really, really, really loves to cook UNDERWEAR WALKS He walks around the house in tight wighties and seems not to care Every night he makes a pot of tea Europeans lack modesty BIODEGRADE MATERIALS SCAVENGING About once a month on garbage day he goes around the city picking up loose construction materials like plywood and PVC pipes It's mostly fruit teas, the fragrance fills the house He watches Facebook clickbait at full volume ****** videos that he thinks are real plane footage Our garage and backyard are full of them, he thinks he's going to build a guesthouse in his retirement that will never come HALF-CAN He drinks half a can of soda or beer and then totally forgets it exists It just sits there on the counter for days He asks if I want to do something and I say "five minutes," and he grumbles something and leaves When he goes to bed he just stands up and goes upstairs without a word SUPERMARKET HAGGLING Once several years ago, he successfully haggled $2 off a bag of grapes at the supermarket So even today, every time he's in the supermarket checkout line, he asks if he can get a dollar or two off He likes to have random fruit around for snacking FLOWERS When she Occasionally, with no warning thanks him, at all, he brings he just home flowers for Mom mumbles But like the cans, he forgets where he puts them The floor of his car is covered in rotten apples and brown bananas stray cats hangs out under the porch and he loves them and tells her to forget it it I asked him why once and he said "they should work for it, same as us" LOOSE FRUIT NO SEATBELT He absolutely, 100% refuses to wear a seatbelt LOUD CALLS When he Skypes the family in the Patria, he adopts an aggressive, shouting tone One would think he's angry at them, but that's literally how Italians just talk conversationally He's been ticketed twice and the car dings at him constantly, but he doesn't let up If it gets really annoying, he just buckles it behind his back
