The Amulet of Shinnok.

A most ancient relic carbon dated to be over 12,000 years old, made of materials not found on the planet earth's periodic table. It has exchanged hands across the centuries, its latest owners being the Kanzuki Zaibatsu. The very same Zaibatsu now hosting the latest 10th World Warriors Tournament as a tax write off. As part of this tax write off, the head of the family Karin Kanzuki plans to hand the Amulet to the winner of the tournament. Despite its 666 trillion dollar value she still deems it a useless trinket that provides no real use to her family and is costing too much money just to keep it safe. She would like nothing better than to get rid of it…

Unfortunately her choice to make it the grand prize has brought most unwanted attention from the criminal syndicate Shadoloo. And it's all because M.Bison can sense a dark presence that he wants to gain control over, drawn to it by his own Psycho Power trembling with excitement over this dark presence. And if that wasn't enough, the infamous serial killer Akuma is drawn to this amulet. Both for the many strong warriors it is attracting and for the prospect of encountering an ultimate darkness to rival his own Satsui no Hado, a fight against something that can possibly push his skills to the limit. How could he resists?

But more than that, there are strange individuals lurking in the shadows of this very tournament. One of which being Shang Tsung, the worm tongue who convinced Karin to hire him on as the tournament host. In so doing he has brought in some rather unusual contestants that are absolute freaks of nature even by the usual standard of freak in this world. And they are especially dangerous fighters, displaying a ferocity that can only be described as inhuman. Were it not for the strict no killing rules in place they would more than likely be killing off the contestants left and right.

In light of this, Interpol has sent in Special Forces Major Chun Li to put together a crack team of the best contestants at the tournament. Her mission is to stop Shadoloo from getting the amulet and bring in Shang Tsung on the charge of attempted national incidents. Among the allies she will come across, one will turn out to be a god of thunder known as Raiden, a man who understands the amulet better than most others, one who knows what is really at stake in this tournament…
