The diagram below outlines the steps necessary to make the entities formerly known as Mario and Luigi switch their identities. Fact 1: Each character's default state is a single entity. If a character picks up a Double Cherry, a new entity is created that is identical to that character. Neither of them is an "original" or "copy", instead the identity is split among them. Any of the split entities can be destroyed and the identity will then be retained by the remaining entities, until only one is left. Fact 2: When multiple characters are present, any of them may perform a Ground Pound onto any split entities to convert them to the identity of that character, splitting them instead. For example, if Mario ground pounds one of Luigi's two split entities, it will convert to a Mario entity, so that Mario's identity is now split while Luigi's is not. Proposition: This can be used to permanently swap the bodies of two characters, as outlined in the steps below. Step 1: We start with Entity 1 (Mario) and Entity 2 (Luigi) near a Double Cherry. Entity 1 Original Mario Original Luigi Step 3: Mario performs a Ground Pound on Entity 2, converting it to a Mario entity. Luigi is now solely Entity 3. It's missing the fact that you the player is controling all the clones of the same character at the same time. They move as one unit implying that the entities are controlled by a meta entity containing the character's soul. When you are turning bodies into other characters the soul does not remain, it's control gets passed to the other meta entity that still has one soul despite how many bodies it gets. It's not a body swap scenario, it's a teleportation paradox mixed with the good old theseus ship paradox. If the original atoms composing your bodies have been converted into the body of another but your soul still exist in a vessel created 30 minutes ago to be an exact replica of your original body, are you still the same person?
