I'd be surprised if there isn't already some sort of movie/show/story where people that are mortally injured (say, like after being hit by a surprise truck) have their minds involuntarily uploaded to a simulation in order to keep them "alive" in some massive stretch of the term until some way to heal them comes along despite their body probably already being dead save for life support and some nerd who created it decided to make it a video game world because of course they did.

okay so I've spent waaay too long on TVTropes looking to see if there's anything like this
I gotta zzz but here's what I found

can't find any involuntary uploading that's also uploading into a game world

closest I can find:
"Reaper (2016)"(book) Kids all join a game simulation when they hit a certain age, then live forever in the simulation. They can temporarily leave whenever, though, they still have bodies.

"Shelter (music video)" more a general simulation she has control over than a game, but close otherwise.

"CrossCode" the game is physical with remotely controlled bodies, but uploading can technically happen.

other things I found that don't involve games:
"Shimeji Simulation" "Kaiba"

also, "Overlord" is arguably the reverse? Like it starts as a virtual world and then turns into reality
