In fact, players wishing to maximize their gameplay must take the Quadruple Roy Route. The Quadruple Roy Route is the longest legitimate path in Super Mario Bros. 3 All following information refers only to playing the game as intended, without glitches. In Super Mario Bros. 3, three Warp Whistles can be found. Each of them can be used in a world to transport Mario to a subset of other worlds. From World 1, he can warp to Worlds 2, 3, and 4. From Worlds 2-6, he can warp to Worlds 5, 6, and 7. From Worlds 7, 8 and the Warp Zone, he can warp to World 8. This means that World 6 is the only world from which it is possible to warp back to a previous world, namely World 5. Since defeating a boss of a world automatically transports Mario to the next, the only boss that can be beaten more than once per playthrough is Roy, the boss of World 5. He can be beaten once organically, and an additional three times by warping back from World 6 to World 5 once per available Warp Whistle. As such, if the player wishes to take the longest available path and maximize the amount of levels played, the way to do this is by warping back from the end of World 6 (right before Lemmy's airship) to World 5 three times, resulting in the Quadruple Roy Route.

When Bowser drains a Grand Star, it is considered nefarious; when New Donk City is powered by draining Power Moons, it is praised. This gives off the impression of a double standard. In the beginning of Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser is seen draining energy from a Grand Star. In Super Mario Odyssey, New Donk City is powered by draining Power Moons. Bowser's "terrible machine" New Donk's "ingenious power source" NEW DONK CITY POWER Grand Star before being drained: Grand Star after being drained: bright, shining dull, lifeless Power Moon before being drained: Power Moon after being drained: bright, shining dull, lifeless Bowser's device is treated as nefarious and evil, with Mario being tasked to break it. New Donk City's device is treated as benign and essential, with Mario being tasked to fix it. While there might be any number of reasons why the former is worse than the latter, the immediate impression this gives off is that draining the energy of cosmic artifacts is "only bad when bad guys do it".
