Old 40k Eldar lore: Fantasy high elf designs mixed with Predator movie themes. Apex predators, capable of besting multiple space marines at the same time. Can literally see into the future and uses this to manipulate events to their advantage. Only being held back by being a tiny race that can't expand due to Slaanesh. Modern 40k Eldar lore: Can't even stand up to space marines anymore. Not even a remotely serious Xeno threat to the Imperium. Serves more as a punching bag for new characters to make them appear strong and powerful. Always messes up prophecies. Suffer multiple monumental catastrophes yet still don't seem to run out of people.
