Princess Twilight Sparkle is an Alicorn (originally unicorn) pony and the main character of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. She was originally a unicorn, but became an alicorn princess during the Season 3 finale when she fixed her friends' cutie marks and discovered a new type of magic. After the events of the 2-part Season 1 premiere, she moves from Canterlot to Ponyville in order to continue the study of friendship under Princess Celestia's guidance, and regularly maintains correspondence with the Princess.
