Emu War
-
I told my government class about the Great Emu War and half the class didn't believe me so we had my government teacher look it up on the projector oh my god ...
I'm not Australian, but I've looked into this event before.
Basically, Aussie farmers during the Great Depression were having a lot of problems with Emus getting into their crops. They asked for help from the government, and they ended up having a bunch of WWI ex-soldiers come down and hunt the emus with machine guns and stuff.
Since the soldiers were being led by Major Meredith, everyone called it a "war". And since they weren't actually very successful at getting rid of the Emu occupation, the war was considered an Emu victory.
