there was an allegedly leaked photo from season 2 ( season 1 had just ended at this point) that showed McGucket being the the author of the journals. however during one of the recent episodes it was revealed that McGucket was in fact not the author but merely working for the author 20 years prior. now we know that the photo was a fake leak created by Alex.
