Black women in the 1950’s were not respected. They lived in far more racist times, they were commonly treated as lower class, they had to worry about rape and domestic abuse a hell of a lot more then than today.

Now the 2010 ladies:

I won’t argue whether or not they get respect. Women today still have to put up with pigs. But I’m sure these ladies get treated more respectfully than they did 60 years ago and they clearly enjoy more liberties to dress how they want
