The Forgotten Saga of Metroid 1.5 Soon after the release of Metroid Prime, Retro Studios level designer Tony Giovannini drafted a game pitch for a "Metroid 1.5" that would have taken place chronologically immediately after the events on Tallon IV. After leaving Tallon IV, Samus Aran's ship gets tractor beamed into a mysterious craft that is entering a parallel dimension. The cryogenically suspended crew of the planet conquering war vessel are being genetically enhanced for greater combat potential with the DNA of numerous beings from across space, including humans, other bounty hunters, Space Pirates, and even Metroids. In the meantime, the ship is being control by an A.I. with four separate personalities. The four personalities are the Child, the Martyr, the Mother, and the Killer. Encountering each would lead to different gameplay styles (puzzle gameplay with the Child, action gameplay with the Killer, etc.). Samus would have the exact same power-ups from Metroid Prime, but she would only be able to use certain ones depending on which area of the ship she was in and whiclh personality controlled that area Aside from the robotic and A. I. enemies, Samus would also face the many genetically engineered monsters, among which are the "Humetroids," humanoid hybrids with detachable floating Metroids in their chests. This seems to be an extension of the human/Metroid in Metroid Fusion There would also be hybrids between Space Pirates and unknown alien species. One suclh hybrid, the "shock beast," was later used as the visual template on which the Pirate troopers in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes were based The game also would have featured both competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, both local and online, with the other hunters captured along with Samus as playable characters. Several modes would take place in a nightclub and include stealthily extracting a criminal and protecting a controversial pop-star. Each hunter would have their own "ball modes" like Samus. Ultimately the pitch was rejected, but many of Tony Giovannini's ideas were sifted out for later projects. The idea for multiplayer in a Metroid game and Samus interacting with other bounty hunters would appear in the later Prime games, while the idea of Samus retaining all her previously obtained abilities but only having them activated at certain points would resurface as the "authorization" mechanic in Other M
