You know honestly if Nuts and Bolts had been an original IP I'm sure it would have been more well liked. If you ignore the fact it has the Banjo-Kazooie name it's actually a pretty creative game with fun, well detailed worlds (seriously the graphics and art are pretty amazing for the Xbox 360), a deep vehicle building mechanic that allows for a lot of customization, funny dialogue, and plenty of missions to take on.
Problem is that it was such a radical shift in genre for Banjo-Kazooie specifically. B-K is well known as one of the defining platformers of the N64 era as it took what made a game like Mario 64 great and expanded upon it greatly, so to radically alter it suddenly to a vehicle based game felt like a let down to people hoping for another platformer. Using JonTron here, had it been "Tip-Tup's Nuts and Bolts" I think it would have been pretty well liked and considered one of the 360's best first party games.
