The strawman argument that people hate Other M just because it tried to flesh out Samus' character is getting really, really old by now.

People hated Other M because it failed epically at fleshing out an iconic character through fanfiction-level writing and horrid characterization. That, and it missed the element of exploration that is fundamental in a, you know, Metroidvania game.

Other M was at best mediocre on its own, and downright horrible as a Metroid game. "Deal with it."
