SO much better

6,106 Try RICOTTA CHEESE instead of sour cream and skip the provolone for a real Italian version of Baked Ziti. Mix an egg into a pound of ricotta to make it nice and creamy, and toss with the ziti. Layer sauce first (so you don't need to butter the pan), then ziti/cheese, mozzarella, sprinkle with parm and a little dried oregano or basil, then repeat layers. For a really nice look, slice a brick of mozzarella for the top layer instead of using the shredded kind. This is SO MUCH BETTER than the sour cream version! LP 12 123

Fool proof

Fool proof I accidentally dumped in way too much water, used maple syrup instead of maple sugar because | didn't read carefully, poured in about an eight of a cup of salad dressing on accident (olive oil and lemon juice), and had to add extra flour to reduce stickiness. Bread came out wonderfully, tastes great and had a great crumb! I suppose I'll try it your way next time. Read less

Bell peppers and green onion are spicy?

000000 April 6, 2020 Too spicy for me, the rest of the family liked it, but it wasn't anything anyone raved about. I do have a low (basically NO) spice tolerance, so I omitted the bell peppers and green onions, used regular diced tomatoes, used homemade mild taco seasoning, but I think there was too much BBQ sauce. It might be tolerable if I halved the BBQ sauce and spices, but again, I have absurdly low spice tolerance. We also used homemade whole wheat Greek yogurt biscuits, because we try to make things healthy as much as we can. Helpful (1) Report Reply

Why does anyone do anything?

Use real cheese which is both cheese and food. Also, I see most broccoli and cheese soup recipes calling for chicken broth instead of vegetable broth. Not sure why when the other ingredients include vegetables but not chicken. Is this just a thing like using beef broth instead of vegetable broth for onion soup? Helpful (0)

D Dale January 21, 2024 Did I exactly make the recipe? Of course not; I would never put canned "cream" of mushroom soup on my table - there's zero cream in "cream" of mushroom soup. And do we really get to say we made the recipe if we used canned green beans and canned corn? Well, we'll still take credit for this recipe because, otherwise, it is the same and the inspiration behind a great dinner. Just make the soup with your favorite recipe, using just cream or thicken half-and-half with corn starch to get the thickness desired. It is so much better than using canned. Otherwise, this is pretty much a staple for us as, other than creamed soups or vegetables, we eat a lot of canned foods and always have. We love meals that are mostly just open some cans and cook. Even the mushroom soup is just throw the ingredients into a pan and stir, nothing complicated or difficult. 1 +1 Comment

For the past year, I've eaten steel cut oats every morning with an egg, avocado, banana, cinnamon, and real vanilla extract and I am no longer pre- diabetic with an A1C of 5.5, my cholesterol dropped 25% to 148, my LDL dropped 45%, my HDL went up 31%. Mine has 19 grams of protein, 18 grams of fiber, and 15 grams of healthy fat (Mono and Polyunsaturated). Helpful (2)
