Avocado Clean Dick refers to the belief that avocados taste like a clean penis. The belief first began gaining attention in 2019 on Twitter, seeing a resurgence in popularity on TikTok in 2021 due to a viral video referencing the tweet.

Origin

It's unknown when exactly the idea that avocado tastes like a clean penis began to spread. On May 19th, 2019, Twitter^[1] user @negroimpala posted, "avocado tastes like clean dick pass it on," gaining over 2,900 retweets and 9,100 likes and numerous replies agreeing with the poster (shown below). This is one of the earliest well-known references to it.

Spread

On August 26th, 2019, Twitter^[2] user @marabeencroft posted, "One time I read a tweet saying 'avocado tastes like clean dick' and I haven’t known peace since," gaining over 3,500 likes and 890 retweets in a comparable span of time (shown below).

On July 3rd, TikToker^[3] @gracie.malin posted a video captioned, "i have not known peace since reading that tweet" in which she's sitting at a table about to eat avocado then hesitates as on-screen text reads, "when you're eating avocado but remember…" (shown below). The video gained over 23.5 million views in four weeks.

On July 6th, YouTube^[6] channel LiteClips posted a clip of streamer quarterjade saying avocados taste like penis, and joking that if you like avocado and you're male you're gay, gaining over 22,000 views in a month (shown below).

On July 7th, TikToker^[4] @just_m1chelle posted a video sharing the fact, gaining over 1.9 million views in a comparable span of time (shown below). On July 16th, BuzzFeed^[5] published an article collecting a number of tweets and TikToks about the belief.
