Mewtwo-shaped Girl is a term used to describe women who have a high waist-hip ratio (WHR) by comparing their body shape to that of the Pokémon Mewtwo. Though the comparison had been made online for sporadically before 2021, a screenshot of a 4chan post saying a girl was "shaped like Mewtwo" posted in March of 2021 began popularizing the idea, as people expressed their attraction to the body type.

The earliest known comparison of a woman to Mewtwo appeared September 23rd, 2015 in an Imgur^[1] post by CosbySweater69 (shown below).

Spread

The comparison to Mewtwo appeared several times online in the following years before surging in popularity. On March 4th, 2020, Instagram^[4] user pineapplebrat posted a picture of herself with the caption, "why do girls wanna look like mewtwo so bad?", gaining over 138,000 likes (shown below, left). On March 27th, Twitter user @ayasmileees^[5] posted that someone told her she "looked like MewTwo" (shown below, right).

On March 7th, 2021, a 4chan^[2] anon started a thread titled "Girls shaped like Mewtwo," inviting other anons to post pictures of women with the hourglass figure. On March 10th, Twitter^[3] user @BloodsareCrips posted a screenshot of the post, gaining over 7,200 retweets and 75,000 likes, helping to popularize the idea of a "Mewtwo-shaped girl" on the platform (shown below).

After the tweet was posted, multiple users expressed their attraction to the body type. User @hikimorouu^[6] tweeted, "Need a Mewtwo girl in my life," gaining over 320 likes (shown below, left). User @plnetgirl^[7] expressed "I wanna be shaped like Mewtwo" (shown below, right).

On June 26th, 2020, rapper Mome Boy released the song "Thighs Like Mewtwo."^[8] The following day, on June 27th, YouTuber Tranium published a video for the song, which received more than 400,000 views (shown below).
