I like to think this:

If it takes 100 coins to give you one life, that means these 100 coins are the average of how much a person earns on it's entire life.

So 100 coins must be worth some U$ millions.

I like the comic, but I feel like the finger bit was unnecessary and detracted from the humor. …maybe that's just me.
