UK Marching Song "(We're Gonna Hang Out) the Washing on the Siegfried Line"

Notes

As an Englishman, I feel we put all our effort into the songs we made for the first world war and then didn't really bother making any new ones for the second, due to the sheer lack of actual soldier's songs I can find. If this was an entry about the First World War, we could have had:

Bombed last night:

Oh, it's a lovely war:

Mademoiselle from Armentières (hinky dinky parlez vous):

But alas, as these things tend to go, the sequel outshines the original, so we will have to work with this.

It's nice how we've kept up the manic cheerfulness though. Then again, I don't recall there ever being an English war song that wasn't sang with a ear-splitting grin on your face; so maybe mopey war songs are a European thing.

This song was sang by The Two Leslies and the lyrics were written by Jimmy Kennedy and Michael Carr.
