Thailand's famous transgender women have begun proudly excepting themselves from national service. They turn up to recruitment events in colorful dresses clutching their sex-change paperwork. Men are required to have a stint the country's armed forces. But transgender residents can show their doctor's notes proving they have received gender treatments.
