There actually is someone on twitter who received permission from ShindoL to create an alternate story, where she does get a happy ending. (Basically she doesn't go through the SHIT she did, but has to deal with the continued loneliness after high school, but it's okay cause it looks like she's going to make a new friend).

I don't remember their twitter handle, but it shouldn't be difficult to find.
