This isn't an example of a single meme, but it is an example of how meme culture and use has spread from fun on the internet to Serious Business.

The Republican Party in Oregon made a meme to criticize the Democratic-controlled legislature's agenda. The Democratic party then fired back accusing the Republican party of trying to astroturf memes.

Is this the future of our nation's political debate?

…but it's meme research, so it'd be off topic.

Well I have no idea about this, but it seems somewhat notable already, just there isn't much reception.
