ВИD is the Russian name of the broadcasting company, VID. It was created by Vladislav Listyev, a former Russian journalist, TV presenter and politician for the Russian people and was founded in 1990.

As a logo for his broadcasting group, Listyey used a ceramic mask representing the ancient Chinese Taoist philosopher by the name of Guo Xiang. It drummed up a lot of controversy in the media and the museum where it came from had forbidden the use of the logo. So Listyey had created a computerized drawing of the mask.
The mask scared small children and in some cases of children led to epilepsy and many other different parodies have been made due to the mask. Later on the broadcasting company had went out of existence. But only a large quantity of leads were left to make a great deal of a scandal out of it than ever before.

Aftermath

Five years later, Listyey was killed on March 1, 1995 and was shot dead on the stairs in his apartment. The murderer was never found and the case itself looked like a political-business related assassination because of the fact that none of his valuables or money was stolen.

The killing itself was a disaster and many people were devastated at this move. For a whole day on March 2, 1995, ORT and many other Russian stations were shut down and only a picture of him and the words, "Vladislav Listyev Has Been Killed" were displayed.

Most other videos that are spawned from the logo are far more scarier. So I would suggest tipping up the screen if you have epileptic seizures or fainting spells. DO NOT WATCH IF YOU HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS OR GET FRIGHTENED EASILY. Seriously.
