Quickly, the site gained a large following. The hotly contested presidential race fueled the growth of this meme, which produced various spin-offs, including Hillary Clinton is your new bicycle (defunct), Sarah Palin in your new bicycle’s flat tire, and The ‘… Is Your New Bicycle’ Meme Is Your New Bicycle. Other political single-serving sites were made for John McCain, Michelle Obama, and Ron Paul.

In August 2008, the book Barack Obama Is Your New Bicycle: 366 Ways He Really Cares was published, which included 366 Obama non sequiturs.
