Meme review
See The Winner Of February 2026's Meme Of The Month!
And the winner of February's Meme of the Month award, with 25 percent of the total votes, is …
Punch the Monkey! This adorable little guy broke hearts across social media in February as videos where he hangs out with a plush orangutan and gets pushed around by older monkeys went viral.
Punch lives at the Ichikawa Zoo in Japan and was abandoned by his mother. Now, he's learning how to live among the apes, and everybody is watching with their eyes half-covered.
When you click on a Punch video, it's never quite clear if you're going to get a heartwarming clip of him thriving with older monkeys or getting dragged around his enclosure and running to his plushie for comfort.
While professionals say that it's normal and healthy for Punch to get into these sorts of altercations with other monkeys, the internet has other opinions. This resulted in tons of memes suggesting that something should be done to help Punch, along with fan art and other content celebrating his cuteness.
Congratulations, Punch, on winning Meme of the Month! Hopefully, the award gets you the respect you deserve from the other monkeys.
"Okay" Punch Kid
Coming in second place with 9 percent of the votes is the 'Okay' Punch Kid, who went viral after punching a fellow student for carrying an "I love ICE" poster around at his school's anti-ICE protest.
In mid-February, the kid who got punched uploaded a video of the altercation to X / Twitter. In the video, he warns the puncher that he'll get in trouble if he hits him. The kids just says, "Okay," and punches anyway.
A frame of the kid winding up for the punch went viral on social media as a meme, while the kid who got punched became the subject of mockery and criticism.
Some people also tried to turn the puncher into an anti-ICE symbol, which has helped keep the image relevant over the past few weeks.
Kirigiri Execution
With 6 percent of the total votes, earning it a third-place award, is the Kirigiri Execution meme, a format based on the bad ending of the game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Panic.
In the game, the scene plays out when Kyoko Kirigiri is falsely accused of a crime based on manipulated evidence. This results in her execution by crushing. The scene shows her desk slowly backing up into a huge crushing device for what looks like a brutal death.
In February, the scene took off as a meme where Kirigiri is used to portray someone overwhelmed by feelings of anxiety and dread, with the crushing machine representing those negative emotions. It took off on sites like TikTok, X and Instagram, proving popular and relatable across social media.

Cortisol Level / Cortisol Spike
In fourth place, with 5 percent of the votes, is the Cortisol Spike meme, a looksmaxxing-adjacent meme that calls out moments when people get too stressed.
The meme is based on the hormone "cortisol," which is the body's primary stress regulator. When someone gets stressed out about something, their cortisol levels rise. Now, thanks to a simple PNG, the internet has a way to point out cortisol rises so everyone can point and laugh together.
In February, memers started posting a maxed-out "cortisol meter" graphic over videos and images of people getting stressed. This meme had a big crossover with looksmaxxers, as videos of them getting mogged were combined with the format. In contrast, a graphic showing low cortisol levels also spread online as a celebration of the most chill-maxxed people online.
Clavicular Frame Mogged by ASU Frat Leader
Finally, in fifth place with 5 percent of the total votes, is Clavicular getting frame mogged by the ASU frat leader, a brutal moment in looksmaxxing history that won't soon be forgotten.
It all went down on February 5th, when the ASU Frat Leader pulled up on Clavicular at a party and mercilessly frame mogged him.
For those who don't know, that means that the Frat Leader stood beside Clavicular while being infinitely more jacked than him, therefore forcing viewers to compare their bodies and realize how much weaker Clavicular is.
The clip went viral when it was reposted to X with an absurd, slang-filled caption that baffled and amused many of the site's users. The news of Clavicular's mogging got around fast, inspiring endless memes about everything from the fall of the English language to looksmaxxing and beyond.
And now for the memes that didn't quite make the top five.
Coming in at a close sixth place was Evan Burger, followed by Jonatanas Kazlauskas' 'Sorry' performance' in seventh and the Japan Footsteps copypasta in eighth. In ninth was the Golden Dandelion meme, and in tenth was the spicy Bakushin Armpit GIF.
Rounding out the top 20 was Hugh Morris in eleventh, followed by Baby Boo Syndrome, Big Yahu, Gamer Epstein and the Pigeon Doctor in fifteenth. This was followed by Baby YouTube Thumbnails, Never StreSS, SpongeBob Driving Crazy, David Baszucki's Curses and finally, Bad Bunny Crying.
Thank you for voting, and see you next month!
