RizzyDraws' Suicide Attempt

Overview

RizzyDraws Suicide Attempt refers to the attempted suicide of a queer artist living in Indonesia by the handle RizzyDraws after getting doxxed allegedly for posting a comic that criticized the Islamic attitudes in his country about homosexuality. While it is difficult to verify the information surrounding the doxxing, as of June 18th, 2018, it appears RizzyDraws survived the suicide attempt.

Background

Several weeks prior to the suicide attempt, RizzyDraws posted a comic about Pride Month in the United States that implied he wished he could be openly gay in his country but the Islamic government and homophobic attitudes of his country prevented him from doing so (comic shown below).

On June 17th, 2017, Twitter user @GamingAndPandas^[1] and Tumblr^[2] user hello-kitty-senpai reported that RizzyDraws had been doxxed and reported to his government for being gay, causing him to attempt to take his own life.

Developments

Initially, details about the doxxing were unclear. Kiwifarms user Fagnasty^[3] claimed that one of his "girlcow/lcf" fans orchestrated the dox, but it is unclear if that's true. In a since-deleted tweet, Ian Miles Cheong claimed the dox was the work of Social Justice Warriors who took issue with what they perceived as the Islamophobic nature of RizzyDraws' post (shown below, left). He later retracted this claim with information he'd gleaned about the situation.^[4]

It was discovered that the doxxers were people interacting with RizzyDraws on Discord. They had used pictures Rizzy posted in that chat of himself in sexual situations and then claimed that they would report Rizzy to the authorities until he "drew better hands." The stream of the supposed dox is on YouTube. ^[5][6]

RizzyDraws then posted several tweets that seemed to suggest he was ending his life (shown below, left). GamingandPandas then reported that Rizzy had ingested a significant amount of poison in an attempt to take his own life (shown below, right).

GamingAndPandas later reported that he had been in contact with Rizzy's family and that Rizzy seemed like he would survive the suicide attempt but have widespread minor tissue damage and some major organ failure. They also reported that the family was aware of who allegedly doxxed Rizzy and would attempt to seek legal action. A thread about the entire situation is on /r/kotakuinaction.^[7]
